As per ASTM D2303, insulating material should withstand against tracking & Erosion on the field. Which why they are evaluated in a laboratory by means of liquid contamination in a particular arrangement. The equipment displayed herewith are used for the same purpose. A high voltage is applied between two electrodes and a liquid contaminant is used in between so as to check & measure tracking. We offer this system in various configurations based on your application – R&D or Compliance Test & Assessment. The routines/measurements that can be conducted by this equipment are:
In Initial Tracking Voltage test, as per clause 9.0 of ASTM D2303, test voltage is applied to the electrodes and is gradually increased in steps till the insulation fails.
A qualified operator observes & records the character of the track and the appearance of the test specimen.
For detailed explanation, please refer ASTM D2303, IEC 60587 and EN-50397-1.
In Time to Track test, a constant specified test voltage is applied and the tracking time is recorded.
In erosion test, a test voltage lower than the voltage required to break the insulation is applied for an extended period of time.
The object here is to measure the erosion as a function of time of voltage application. Please contact us for a free consultation regarding test methods in ASTM D2303, IEC 60587 and EN-50397-1
