PC based Thermal Overload Relay Test Bench

The bench has a facility to test multiple relays simultaneously and independently of each other in a modular fashion. Each test station has its own SMPS based current source (that sets the desired test current instantly), a pneumatic fixture, a micro-controller based logic controller to control the current and a small NO / NC indicating lamp to instantly indicate to the operator the status of NO / NC contact.

The system is available with individual current source available in different ranges from DC 0.2A to 40 A/24V max (with regulation of 0.2%).
Specially designed jigs for ease and operator safety (can be integrated on an automated assembly).
No risk to operator as max voltage is 24V DC; does not require skilled operator.

The bench has a facility to test multiple relays simultaneously and independently of each other in a modular fashion. Each test station has its own SMPS based current source (that sets the desired test current instantly), a pneumatic fixture, a micro-controller based logic controller to control the current and a small NO / NC indicating lamp to instantly indicate to the operator the status of NO / NC contact. The entire system is centrally controlled by a PC making the user interface as easy as anything.

The SMPS based current source has a very high line and load regulation making the test current virtually free of line fluctuations and load inconsistencies thus adding a decent accuracy component to the testing. The fixture is expertly designed for a unique relay design and has all the features as desired by the test sequence and test requirements. A communications interface module interfaces each of the microcontroller keypad with a single PC. This not only ensures superior data logging capability but the entire system gets equipped with multi-tasking capabilities thus ensuring a simultaneous operation of all the test stations in an independent manner.

The software (customized) has a Cat No. wise presetting for minimum (dial set at the minimum), verification (dial set at any location) and maximum (dial set at maximum) allowing the user to test the relays at any operational point. In addition the software has secure database and report generation facility.

Currently, the system comes with 40 A max DC current (continuous rating) but this can be extended to 100 A to test heavy duty relays for overload.

Application wise, the system basically tests the thermal overload relay module (which interrupts the main motor incoming circuit through a contactor) for over current properties for the entire scale within the tripping dial.
