Phantom Load(Test Setup) for Single Phase Energy Meter

The panel comprise of the following :

1. Power source 0 to 300 V AC, 0 to 50 A with Power Factor adjustment facility from 0.1 Lag to 0.1 Lead through unity with seven steps.

2. Digital Voltmeter : - 0 to 300 V AC.

3. Digital Ammeter : - 0 to 1.000 reading with CT.

4. Current Transformer having ranges 2A, 5A, 20A, 50A.

5. Digital Power Factor Meter : - 0.1 Lag - Unity - 0.1 Lead.

6. Mains ON MCB : - This is TPN MCB of 4 A Rating provided for switch " ON " or " OFF " the panel.

7. CT Range Switch : - This is provided for selecting the CT Range.

8. TEST ON / OFF Push Buttons : - This is provided to ON / OFF the output of the panel.

9. Adjust Voltage Variac : - This is Single Phase / 2 A Variac provided for adjusting the output voltage from 0 to 300 V.

10.Adjust Current Variac : - This is a Single Phase / 2 A Variac provided for adjusting the load current from 0 to the range selected by switch.

11.Set Power Factor Switch : - For adjusting the P. F. one switch with seven steps is provided. With this coarse adjustment of P. F. can be done.

12.Adjust P. F. Fine Variac : - This is a Single Phase / 2 A Variac provided to adjust P. F. After selecting P. F. with switch, we have fine adjustment with this Variac.

13.Output Terminals : - Two terminals of voltage & two terminals for current are provided at the front panel. With these terminals we can connect the `Meter under Test' to the panel.

For 3 phase Energy Meter testing, 3 such systems are housed in a single panel




TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS FOR THREE PHASE POWER SOURCE / PHANTOM LOAD UNIT

Three Phase Power Source for Testing of 40 Energy Meters will comprise of Voltage & Current Source for 40 Nos. meters with following Specifications for EACH PHASE :

a. Input supply - 3 phase 50 Hz, 415 V 10 %.

b. Outputs - I. Voltage Source, II.Current Source.

I. Voltage Source : Adjustable 0 - 300 Volt/600VA with Static phase shifting arrangement to obtain 90 Deg. lead through 0 to 90 Deg. lag with respect to Current Source. Facility to switch to 70% and 120% of set voltage will be provided for creep test.

II. Current Source : 0 - 100 Amps. adjustable in steps with switch and fine by variac; Switching arrangement will be made to get 100%, 400%, 500%, 600% and 800% of basic setting. Also arrangement will be made to select 0.4 %, 5%, 10%, 20%, and 100% of setting for carrying out Starting Current Test.

c. Digital Ammeter 3 & 1/2 digit Class 1 with CT range selector.

d. Digital Voltmeter 3 & 1/2 digit 0 - 300 V class 1.

e. Power factor meter to read phase angle between 90 Deg lag-Unity-90 Deg lead.

f. Line frequency Indicator 40 hz to 55 hz

g. Outputs will be provided on Insulated terminals of proper sizes.
