SCR ELEKTRONIKS have developed this GLOW - WIRE APPARATUS Model
GWT - 01 to carry out Tests Specified in many Standards to Check
the "Resistance to Fire" in the Moulded Insulator Material
Parts of Electrical accessories, like Domestic Switches, MCB,
ELCB, etc.
Testing
of the Electro-technical products with regard to Fire Hazard is
to create exactly the conditions occurring in practice. However,
in most instances, this is not possible.
Thus, for practical purposes, the Testing of Electro-technical
parts / products are Tested with regard to Fire Hazard by the
simulating as closely as possible the actual effects occurring
in practice.
This Test setup does create such " SIMULATION " as
described in the respective IS Code :
IS 11000 (Part2/Sec 1) - 1984 & IEC PUB 695-2-1(1980), "Fire
Hazard Testing - Glow Wire Test & Guidance" is applicable
to switches for domestic & similar purposes as well as other
electro-technical equipments.
FEATURES / SPECIFICATIONS
1. Heating Element - Glow - Wire : Nickel / Chromium ( Ni/Cr -
80:20 ) wire of 4 mm dia. with a shape as per Standard.
2. Temperature Sensor - Thermocouple : Fine Wire of Cr / Al of
0.5 mm dia. located in 0.6 mm dia.
pocket hole in Glow - Wire, to measure Glow - Wire temperature.
Sheath resistant to 1000 deg. C.
3. Temperature Control : Proportional Temperature controller
- 3& 1/2 Digit, 1 deg. C resolution,
with ambient temperature compensation, (200 deg. C per min. ramp).
4. Temperature Range : Adjustable up to 960 deg. C.
5. Time Controller : a) Digital Preset Timer - 3 Digits, 0-99.9sec.
b) Digital Time Interval Meter - 0to 99.9 sec.
6. Carriage : A Mounting Tray, Universally adjustable SS Perforated
Tray on a Trolley is provided to mount the Specimen.
7. Penetration Depth : Mechanically restricted to 7 mm only.
8. Sample Loading : Test Sample contact force against the GLOW-WIRE
pre-loaded to 0.8 to 1.2 N.
9. Sample Size : 180 mm x 150mm max. & 15mm x 15mm min.,
Thickness 10 mm to 80 mm
10. Safety : Emergency Switch, MCB & Fuses.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
SCR ELEKTRONIKS have developed GLOW - WIRE APPARATUS Model GWT
- A1, which enables operator to carry out tests automatically
as specified in many Standards to Check the "Resistance to
Fire" in the Moulded Insulator Material Parts of Electrical
accessories, such as Domestic Switches, MCB, MCCB, ELCB, Energy
Meters etc.
Testing of the Electro-technical products with regard to Fire
Hazard is to duplicate exactly the conditions occurring in practice.
However, in most instances, this is not possible.
Thus, for practical purposes, the Testing of Electro-technical
parts / products are Tested with regard to Fire Hazard by simulating
as closely as possible the actual effects occurring in practice.
The Electro-technical parts / products which are exposed to Thermal
Stresses due to electric effects & deterioration by which
the safety of the product is not unduly affected by Heat generated
within the product.

FEATURES

02. Fine Wire of Cr / Al of 0.5 mm dia. to measure Glow - Wire
temperature. Sheath resistant to 1000 deg. C.
03. Micro controller base PID Temperature controller - 4 Digit
with ambient temperature compensation.
04. Self adjusting current Source to heat & Maintain the
Glow - Wire to the Pre-set Temperature.
05. Temperature Ramp - up is controlled to 200 deg. C per minute.
06. Motorised Sliding Carrier preloaded with force of 0.8 to
1.2 N when the part / product is in
contact with the Glow - Wire.
07. Automatic Setting of limit of the penetration of Glow - Wire
in the sample by 7 mm.
08. Micro controller base Digital Timer - The Timer indicates
a) Glow - Wire application time.
b) Test Duration.
c) Flame time.
09. Mounting Tray - Universally adjustable Stainless Steel Perforated
Tray on a Trolley is
provided to mount the specimen.
10. Precision Scale - The height of the Flame is measured by
this Scale.
